Persuading MQM: Fazl contacts Ishaq Dar

ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – Jamiat Ulema Islam – Fazl (JUI-F) leader Maulana Fazl ur-Rehman’s efforts to persuade Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leadership to withdraw their resignations continue as he contacted Finance Minister Ishaq Dar for this purpose on Saturday. He demanded a meeting between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and MQM leaders for this purpose and Ishaq Dar promised him the meeting, reported Dunya News.

According to details, Fazl contacted Ishaq Dar to inform him about his telephonic discussion with MQM chief Altaf Hussain. He told that he has requested the MQM chief again to withdraw the resignations. He said that his efforts alone cannot prove fruitful unless he receives cooperation from the government as well. He said that the MQM leaders are angry and their meeting with the PM must be scheduled.

According to sources, Ishaq Dar has assured Maulana Fazl of PM’s meeting with MQM leaders. Fazl expressed hope that negotiations with MQM leadership will start from Monday in Islamabad. The JUI-F leader will arrive in Islamabad from Dera Ismail Khan today.

Earlier, Ishaq Dar and Opposition Leader Khurshid Shah had also contacted MQM leader Dr. Farooq Sattar and requested him to review the decision of not withdrawing the resignations. Ishaq Dar and Fazl have also assured addressing MQM’s concerns.
