Summary PM directed CM Sindh to improve investigation and prosecution
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday vowed not to stop Karachi operation at any cost, adding that the culprits behind attacks on Rashid Godil and Shuja Khanzada will not be spared, Dunya News reported.
According to details, a meeting on law and security presided over by PM Nawaz took place at the Governor House in which Director General (DG) Rangers Major General Bilal Akbar briefed the Prime Minister on the situation.
The DG Rangers told PM Nawaz that high level crimes have been reduced by up to 60%, adding that the metropolitan has been cleansed of major groups involved in robbery, street crimes and extortion. He also presented a list of target killers.
He told that it is because of the improved law and order situation that the sale of flags and other items to celebrate Independence Day grossed over Rs 5 billion whereas the industry saw a business of over 70 billion rupees on the occasion of Eid.
Prime Minister was told that clues about ghost employees were found using installation of biometric system at SITE Limited which resulted in saving of Rs 14.5 million.
General Bilal said no militant wing or outfit will be allowed to collect skins of sacrificial animals on Eid-ul-Azha. He pointed out that suspects get acquitted from courts because of poor investigation and prosecution, adding that every one out of four suspects gets bail on the first hearing.
Prime Minister Nawaz directed Chief Minister Sindh to improve prosecution and investigation process and that modern methods of investigation be adopted.
Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that better measurements are being taken to increase conviction in criminal cases. He said good and capable investigation officers and prosecutors are being deployed, adding that action will be taken against the investigation officers that lose the cases.
Inspector General (IG) Sindh Ghulam Haider Jamali briefed the prime minister over attack on Rashid Godil and said that culprits are not being identified yet because of unclear CCTV footage. PM Nawaz responded to this by saying action should be taken against those who installed faulty cameras in the first place.
