SIALKOT (Dunya News) - A Pakistani civilian was killed in unprovoked shelling and firing by Indian forces in a village on the Sialkot Working Boundary on Tuesday morning.

The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) opened fire in Thathi Khurd village in Charwah sector, killing Muhammad Sharif on the spot.

Pakistan Rangers effectively responded to the Indian firing.

Earlier on Monday, the Indian Deputy High Commissioner was summoned to the Foreign Office. A protest was lodged against unprovoked ceasefire violations on 15 to 16 August, by Indian troops at the Line of Control in Kotli Sector, which resulted in martyrdom of three civilians, 55-year-old Shafi Khan, 56-year-old Shahpal Khan and Sara Khatoon wife of Mohammad Ashraf. Moreover, fifteen civilians were also injured as a result of Indian fire.

The Deputy High Commissioner was conveyed that the Indian side must investigate the incident, share the findings of the investigations with Pakistan, instruct its troops to respect the Ceasefire, in letter and spirit, and maintain peace on the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir.

So far, there have been 71 ceasefire violations from the Indian side of the LoC and the Working Boundary.
