Summary MQM MPs resigned from their seats in protest against alleged victimisation of party workers.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has set five conditions for withdrawal of its parliamentarians’ resignations.
On Wednesday, 24 MNAs, 8 senators and 51 Sindh Assembly members belonging to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) submitted their resignations in protest against alleged victimisation of party workers.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and other parliamentary leaders have urged the MQM to withdraw its resignations as it will trigger political crisis in the country, however, the protesting party has stressed that it will take back resignations only if the government addresses its reservations.
According to sources, the party has asked the government to lift restriction on broadcasting of Altaf Hussain’s lives speeches.
It has demanded establishment of monitoring committee to ensure that no injustices is committed during ongoing targeted operation in Karachi.
The MQM further demanded that Rangers-led operation should be unbiased and arrested party workers should be immediately presented in the courts.
Lastly, the party has asked the government to take immediate measures for recovery of missing party workers.
