Summary

Intermittent rain lashed different cities of Punjab and Khyber Paktunkhwa on Wednesday due to which roads were blocked, traffic halted and businesses mired. At least 14 people have been killed and 15 others sustained injuries in rain-related incidents. While dozens inundated in Waziristan due to flood. The rain which started at 5am is still continued due to which people could not reach their offices. Vehicles were trapped in the rain-created nullahs. According to Met office, 98 mm rain was recorded at Lahore Airport, 60 mm in Faisalabad, 55 mm in Muzaffar Abad, 50 mm in Bhakkar, 101 mm in Bannu, 93 mm in Noorpur Thal, 80 mm in DI Khan, 37 mm in Sargodha, 23 mm in Jhang and 44 mm in Peshawar. Low-lying areas deluged due to the downpour in Qasoor. One person was killed when roof of his house caved in. Two minors were electrocuted while bathing in the rain in Shafiq Abad. Ten person were injured when roofs caved in Manawan, Jain Mandar and Band Road. A child was killed when wall of an under-construction house fell down. The rains would continue till the next 24 hours, according to the Met office. The sky remained heavily overcast in Lahore while a heavy rain turned the weather extremely pleasant in the metropolis.Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif has directed officials concerned to improve the sewerage system in their areas.
