Summary 4-member committee includes Ishaq Dar, Khawaja Saad Rafique, Pervaiz Rashid and Irfan Siddiqui
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif formed a four-member committee on the issue of de-seating Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) members from National Assembluy. Nawaz Sharif said that he is hopeful that all parties will set bitter rivalries aside and work for democratic stability, reported Dunya News.
The 4-member committee formed by the PM includes Ishaq Dar, Khawaja Saad Rafique, Pervaiz Rashid and Irfan Siddiqui. PM has also directed the committee to contact Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Jamiat-e-Ulema Fazl (JUI-F) and persuade them to call of their campaigns against PTI.
PM Nawaz Sharif expressed hope that political leaders of the parties will be able to put aside the bitter rivalries and work for democratic stability in the country.
On the other hand, the meeting scheduled to take place between government officials and MQM has been postponed after which MQM has called an emergency conference of its parliamentary party at 2030 hours.
Earlier, today PM chaired meeting of parliamentary leaders to discuss strategy after Judicial Commission report.
The leaders attending the meeting include Syed Khursheed Shah, Maulana Fazalur Rehman, Rasheed Gudial, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Ijaz ul Haq, Sirajul Haq, Ghulam Ahmad Bilour, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, and Mushahid Hussain Syed.
The participants will discuss the resolutions submitted by MQM and JUI-F in the National Assembly regarding the issue of de-seating PTI members of the National Assembly who remained absent from the house over 40 days during anti-government protest.
According to NA rules, a member who does not attend Assembly session continuously for 40 days stands disqualified as member of the House.
