Summary Pervaiz Khattak and PM Nawaz went on aerial tour of the affected areas
CHITRAL (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday went on an aerial visit of the flood hit areas of Chitral and waived off agricultural debt of the affectees while announcing a relief package of Rs 500 million, Dunya News reported.
He said he was relieved that no lives have been lost in the flood and that the government will help Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and flood affectees in every possible way.
The political leadership seemed to have come to the realization of the magnitude of the disaster. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervaiz Khattak went on an aerial visit of the flood-hit areas.
The political leadership was briefed of the situation by GOC Malakand Major General Nadir Khan. PM Nawaz paid rich tribute to the Pakistan Army for timely relief efforts and the civil administration for its assistance.
Talking to the affectees, PM Nawaz said that he hasn’t come to Chitral just to see destruction of the river but also to see the victims.
Addressing the local elders, PM said that the Lawari Tunnel will be completed in 1.5 years, adding that the pathway can be spread across the country via Chitral.
He assured that KP and Balochistan will be part of the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor project.
Nawaz Sharif praised GOC Major General Nadir and local government for immediately starting the relief effort while ignoring Khattak who was sitting right beside him.
