Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on Wednesday strongly condemned the assassination of senior Baloch nationalist leader and former parliamentarian Habib Jalib Baloch in Quetta and ordered an inquiry. The PM termed it a heinous and despicable act and asked the provincial government to investigate and track down the perpetrators. He said justice would be done and those responsible be punished. He directed that a report be submitted to him at the earliest. The PM paid rich tributes to the late Habib Jalib and described him as a great politician who strove hard for democracy. He pointed that the Senator played an effective role in highlighting the problems of his area as an elected member of the Senate in 1997 and serving as a member of several parliamentary standing committees. The PM also appreciated his role in raising his voice for the rights of the people of Balochistan.
