Pak, India propose names of judges for Kishanganga arbitration

Pakistan and India have proposed the names of legal experts two from each side at the International Court of Arbitration against construction of the controversial Kishanganga Hydropower Project by India in alleged violation of 1960 Indus Waters Treaty.Pakistan has nominated Justice Borno Sena and John Paulson while India has nominated Justice Peter Tomka and Luson Kalif. A seven member bench will hear the petition at the International Court of Justice. Pakistan and India has to agree on the names of three impartial judges. If both countries fail to finalize the names of three pending judges then the names will finalized by toss.It is worth mentioning that if Kishanganga is completed, the project would severely affect Pakistans rights over the river, reduce the river flows into Pakistan and minimize its power generation capacity of the 969MW Neelum Jhelum Hydropower project near Muzaffarabad in Azad Kashmir.
