Quetta: Former senator Habib Jalib Baloch shot dead

Former senator and Secretary-General of the Balochistan National Party - Mengal (BNP - M) Habib Jalib Baloch was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Quetta. Following the assassination BNP-M has given a call for 72 hours strike besides announcing a 40-day-long mourning period.Jalib, a senior Supreme Court lawyer, was standing outside the shop of his brother when he was gunned down by three motorbike riding gunmen opened fire at him near Musa Colony at Sariab Road. BNP workers gathered at the hospital and angrily protested against the incident and forced closure of shops and markets.Security has been beefed up across Balochistan to avoid any untoward incident.Following the incident the provincial government has announced to close all educational institutions across Balochistan for two days.Protests have been reported from all major cities across Balochistan including Mastung, Qalat, Khuzdar, Sorab, Noshki, Jaffarabad, Bela, Hub.Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani has instructed the law enforcing agencies to conduct an immediate inquiry of the killing.I will quit office if killers not exposed, says Lashkari RaisaniPakistan Peoples Party leader Senator Lashkari Raisani talking to Dunya News said that he strongly condemn the killing. He termed the murder as a part of a well planned conspiracy against the country. He said that the unseen forces want to continue the wave of violence in the province. He urged all coalition partners to sit together to curb target killing in Balochistan. He expressed disappointment on the fact that the government is helpless. He demanded the government to expose all the target killers. He warned that if government fails to bring the culprits to justice he I will give up my post as senator and parliamentarian.
