Summary Load shedding, water shortage and heatwave have left people of Karachi irritated
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Several areas of Karachi remain in the dark even after twenty four hours since the massive city-wide electricity breakdown. The largest metropolitan also faced water shortage of 48 crore gallons because of shutting down of the pumping stations.
The combination of electricity load shedding, water shortage and heatwave has irked the citizens. The load shedding caused problems especially for the stay-at-home women because several edible items in the fridge went bad.
More than half of Karachi went into dark after central Bin Qasim power plant tripped yesterday (Tuesday). The tripping of the power plant caused interruption in water supply across the city as well. The pipeline of 72inch radius near Dhabay Ji also burst.
According to details, the electricity supply got suspended from over 30 grid stations and all pumping stations that supply water across the city have also been shut down.
The citizens of Karachi already face multiple challenges including electricity load shedding, heatwave and water shortage, that too, in the fasting month of Ramazan.
The affected areas include Orangi, Baldia, SITE, Liaquatabad, North Nazimabad, Federal B Area, Sarjani, Gulshan Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Johar, Airport, Landhi, Korangi, Malir, Old City Area, Kimarri, and Lyari.
The K-Electric officials said that the Engineers are inspecting the situation, adding that the company cannot give a deadline until when the electricity will be restored.
The electricity supply has been shut down at many key installations including Chief Minister House and the Airport.
