Imran Khan's nephews granted bail in traffic warden torture case

LAHORE (Dunya News) – A judicial magistrate court in Lahore on Thursday granted bail to both the nephews of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan who were earlier detained on charges of manhandling a traffic warden who stopped them for violating traffic rules, Dunya News reported.

During the hearing defendant lawyer adopted the stance that traffic warden Shakeel Ahmed carried out unjustified torture on Azeem and Abdullah and later police also did the same with them during custody.

The court while reviewing the case accepted bail of both the suspects over surety bonds worth Rs50,000 each and adjourned the hearing till July 16.

Moreover, the court has also summoned medical report of both the suspects on next hearing.

On the other hand, coercive images of both the nephews have emerged on social media in which they have been shown beaten brutally by the police.

Azeem and Abdullah were arrested a day before for brawl with traffic warden over seatbelt.

According to details, the boys started quarrelling with a traffic warden named Shakeel after they were told to fasten seat belt on Mall Road. Soon after, both of them started beating the warden upon which the police was called in.

The police took the boys to Race Course police station where both were booked upon the traffic warden’s complaint for life threat and government intervention.
