Suspected murderer of Waqas Shah granted 14-day physical remand

KARACHI (Dunya News) – An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Karachi has sent the accused Asif Ali involved in the murder of Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) worker Waqas Shah on 14-day physical remand, Dunya News reported on Saturday.

The suspect was presented before the court amid tight security by Azizabad police who requested for remand to conduct interrogation.

The court remarked that the whole city has witnessed Waqas’s killing and has been affected by it whereas it will be clear through investigation that whether the suspect is involve in the murder or not.

The judge also stated that the suspect can’t be acquitted at the behest of lawyers.

Defense lawyer argued that everyone knows that Waqas was killed by Rangers’ firing however; Rangers’ law officer argued that the suspect is not in their custody neither they are the plaintiff in the case.

He also said that Rangers’ is only here to defend themselves as they have been accused of the murder.

The court after hearing arguments of both the parties remanded the suspect in police custody for 14 days.
