LAHORE (Dunya News) – Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Director General (DG) Jawad Ikram on Friday has said that usual monsoon showers are likely to happen this year.

He expressed these views in a press conference in the provincial capital.

He said that the department is chalking out a strategy to get rapid updates on India’s water release. Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said that the monsoon rains are likely to happen like the usual in past years, he added.

However, he said the department is ready to counter any unusual happening. The DG said that in addition to unexpected millimeters of monsoon rains, water released by India also causes problems.
Ikram said that warehouses have been formed in different areas in the province including Lahore to provide relief items in case of emergency.
