LHC directs Punjab govt to hold LBs polls in a week

Lahore High Court Thursday ordered the Punjab government to conduct local bodies elections within a week and intimate the court in this regard. Justice Sheikh Azmat of Lahore High Court heard the case. Counsel Fawad Chuadhry of the district nazims told the court that the Punjab government is violating the constitution by delaying the local bodies polls and called upon the court to direct the federal and Punjab government to conduct polls. Deputy Attorney General Tanveer Hashmi told the court that holding of the polls is responsibility of the provincial government and not of the federal. Lahore High Court ordered the Punjab government to hold polls wihitn 7 days.
