Summary In a notification, Interior Ministry annulled its earlier notification to ban the INGO

ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – Interior Ministry has on Sunday postponed its decision to ban the International NGO ‘Save the Children’ in a notification. Interior Ministry had earlier issued a notification banning the INGO but withdrew the decision through another notification, apparently upon the mounting pressure, reported Dunya News.

As the pressure mounted on the government to allow ‘Save the Children’ to work, the government seems to have succumbed to it. Officials of the INGO contacted senior politicians and bureaucrats after which a new notification was issued by the Ministry of Interior that annulled its previous notification. The new notification has postponed the banning of the INGO.

It is pertinent to mention here that Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan had made tall claims regarding the issue and had claimed that ‘Save the Children’ was being banned for violating the rules and regulations set by the government of Pakistan. He had also boasted that Pakistan was giving a clear message to the world through this decision that the country wouldn’t compromise on national security.

The latest notification has made the people wonder how the decision was changed overnight.
