Imam booked for hate speech escapes from court premises with lawyer's help

LAHORE (Daily Dunya Correspondent) – The bail plea of the accused Imam of a local mosque in Lahore was rejected after which the Imam escaped from the courtroom premises reportedly with the lawyer’s help.

According to details, the accused Ahmed Sher Sabir Al-Qadri’s lawyer appeared before the court and submitted that the police had registered a baseless case against his client upon ‘political pressure’.

Additional Prosecutor General Punjab Abdul Samad told the court that Qadri was arrested from Quaidabad locality after making a raid upon neighbours’ complaint. The imam was booked for violation of Section 6 of Sound Act.

The prosecutor told the court that imam was violating the rule using four loud speakers. The court rejected Qadri’s bail plea after hearing arguments from both sides; following which, the accused escaped from the court premises.
