Trade with Turkmenistan will be increased: PM Nawaz

ASHGABAT (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday said that trade between Pakistan and Turkmenistan will be increased, adding that both countries share similar views about regional cooperation, Dunya News reported.

Addressing a joint press conference with Turkmenistan president Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, PM Nawaz said that both countries share same approach about regional cooperation and that people to people contact between both countries will be increased.

He said bilateral trade and tourism will also be promoted. PM said that Pakistan wants peaceful relations with neighboring countries, adding that splendid opportunities to promote cooperation in various sectors between both countries exist.

Reportedly, both countries also held dialogue at delegates’ level and exchanged views over promoting trade, energy and prevention of terrorism and narcotics.

Earlier, a lavish reception was arranged to welcome PM Nawaz. National anthems of both countries were played on this occasion.

Prime Minister is scheduled to visit Kyrgyzstan tomorrow (Thursday) and meet its president Almazbek Atambaev. Federal ministers Khurram Dastagir, Khawaja Asif, State Minister Jam Kamal, Prime Minister’s special advisor Tariq Fatmi and political secretary Asif Kirmani are also accompanying Prime Minister.
