LAHORE (Dunya News) – The local body (LB) elections in the cantonment boards are scheduled to held on April 25 in the country.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), the election preparations have been completed in at least 11 cantonment boards. As many as ten polling stations of Peshawar have been declared sensitive places and vulnerable to unfortunate incidents. The polls will be held in at least 32 wards of 11 cantonment boards. As many as 22 polling stations have been established in Peshawar. The polling will start at 8 am and will continue until 5 pm tomorrow.

In Gujranwala, at least 85 candidates are participating in the LB polls in ten wards. The election Commission (EC) has established at least 26 polling stations and as many as 85 polling booths. The total number of registered voters is at least 50,171 while 27,588 are men and 22,583 are women.

The EC has appointed 26 presiding officers, 85 assistant presiding officers and 85 polling officers. The Pakistan Army contingents have been deployed at the polling stations. Each polling station will have at least 16-20 soldiers. The polling materials will be handed over to the presiding officers today.

Separately, in Karachi the candidates of the cantonment boards LB polls have been allotted electoral signs. At least 74 candidates will contest in 17 wards of Faisal Cantonment, Manora Cantonment and Karachi Cantonment. As many as 43 candidates of different political parties will also contest the polls for councillor seat. The LB elections are going to be held in a total of six cantonments in Karachi.
