KARACHI (Dunya News) – The preparations for the by-election in the constituency NA-246 on Wednesday have been finalised. April 23 is the decisive day for the contesting parties including Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
According to the details, ban on pillion riding has been imposed in the city until April 24. All the polling stations have been declared sensitive places. The magistrate has been given the authority of the deployed Rangers.
At least 213 polling stations have been formed in as many as 55 different schools buildings. The police and the Rangers have prepped to counter any unfortunate incident. At least 4,000 Rangers personnel have been deployed for the secuirty of the plling stations.
According to the West Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Feroz Shah, as many as 7,373 policemen would perform their duties at the polling stations. At least two Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs), 15 Superintendents of Police (SPs), nine Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) and at least 18 Station House Masters (SHOs) would remain in the constituency during the polling, he added. He said that as many as 16 policemen would perform their duties indie the polling stations while 12 outside.
