Summary PTI Chairperson clarified his position on returning to assembly
(Web Desk) -- Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has broken the silence regarding PTI’s return to parliament after he tweeted from his account, explaining his position on the matter.
Following proclaimations of refusal to recognize the current parliament as legitimate , the PTI Chairperson took his protest to the streets as dharnas raged all over the country. The 126 days’ protest coincided with a world record of longest sit-in as PTI abandoned the parliament for 7-months on the trot.
Imran Khan in his latest statement via tweets has said that his party’s motive for coming back to the parliament was to take a firm stance against sending Pakistan army to Yemen soil for the sake of aggression.
Criticising Pakistan’s decision to participate in US War on Terror in 2004, the PTI Chairman said that Pakistan had suffered colossal losses, both in human resources and monetary terms and expressed belief on not allowing such a military venture in the future.
Vocalizing opinion on the Yemen conflict, Imran Khan has said that it was his party’s goal to make sure no backdoor deals were conducted by government with Saudi Arabia to send troops, covertly or otherwise. Following tweets were tweeted by Imran Khan’s account earlier today:
In 2004, I stated in Parliament Pak should stay out of US War on Terror & not send forces to Waziristan 1/4

2/4 As it would be going into quicksand to fight someone else s war but underhand deals were made and the fallout is still being felt in Pak

3/4 we have suffered over 50,000 dead; over $1 billion loss to the country’s economy and a polarised polity battling resurgent terrorism.
— Imran Khan (@ImranKhanPTI) April 11, 2015
4/4 Now by going back to Parliament, PTI ensured no secret deals or commitments were made on behalf of our people & its elected reps.

Despite my natural instinct not to return to assemblies till report of JC, I made decision to return so as to give our clear position. 1/2
— Imran Khan (@ImranKhanPTI) April 11, 2015
2/2 & we did give a clear position on vital national question & Parliament s Resolution vindicates our decision to return to assemblies.
— Imran Khan (@ImranKhanPTI) April 11, 2015
I felt PTI must play its role & impact national policy & PTI did just that. Our position stated with clarity in the House & in the Resolution

It should be noted here that the clarification may have arose due to the strong opposition and criticism PTI had to face following its return to assembly. Several leaders of various parties have grilled PTI for reversing its decision to sit in the assembly after Imran Khan declared the parliament as unconstitutional following allegations of rigging in 2013 elections.
