Summary Parliament had unanimously passed a resolution not to get involved in Yemen conflict
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – A ‘Defense of Holy Sites’ Conference comprising religio-political clerics took place in Islamabad and it issued a declaration terming Parliament’s resolution to stay out of Yemen conflict a ‘conspiracy’ to isolate Pakistan.
According to details, a 6-point declaration has been issued by the conference saying that Pakistan’s resolution to remain impartial is extremely inappropriate.
It said that everything will be done for the protection of holy sites of Makkah and Madina.
The declaration said that the parliament’s resolution – passed unanimously – is a ‘conspiracy’ to isolate Pakistan in the Muslim world.
It further said that the aggressive activities of the Houthi rebels must not be given religious colour. The clerics demanded the government to ‘exhibit courage’ by taking ‘daring action’ while representing ‘sentiments of people’.
Addressing the seminar, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) chief Fazlur Rehman said that Yemen situation is not sectarian, adding that a rebellion, not war, is going on there.
Jamat-ud-Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Saeed said in his address that parliament’s resolution does not represent people’s sentiments, adding that Saudi Arabia never remained impartial on matters relating to Pakistan.
He and other leaders said in their statements that they will not refuse any kind of ‘sacrifice’ in order to protect holy sites.
