LAHORE (Dunya News) – Central Investigation Agency (CIA) of Police has arrested leader of banned organization Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) on Thursday. The accused had conspired with Tehreek-e-Taliban Punjabi Group to martyr Colonel Imam and Colonel Khawaja.

Superintendent of Police (SP) CIA Muhammad Umar Virk, accompanied by police personnel apprehended the accused at Lari Adda.

The accused belonged to banned organization TTP and Harkatul Mujahideen.

The accused took part in militant activities from the banned organization TTP in 1997 after taking 3 months training in 1995 from Khost, Afghanistan.

The accused was also a close confidant of Amir Fazul Rehman Khalil of Harkatul Mujahideen.

The accused has revealed during investigation that he had released a hostage named Tariq in 2008 after extorting 2 crore 70 lac rupees.

In 2009, the accused kidnapped Colonel Imam, Colonel Khalid Khawaja, journalist Asad Qureshi and his helper for ransom and on not receiving the sum initially; he had slain the Colonel Imam and Colonel Khawaja.

He eventually released Asad Qureshi and his helper on receiving the belated ransom of one crore 40 lacs.

It has also been learnt that the accused has also admitted to kidnapping two Hawaldars of intelligence agencies and had martyred one of them while releasing the other for a ransom of one crore.

The accused is also responsible for extorting traders in Rawalpindi, Lahore and various other cities and upon not receiving the ransom, would attack the premises of traders with hand grenades.

During investigation, it was revealed that the accused was actively involved in militant activities in Waziristan and Afghanistan.

The accused belongs to Dera Ismail Khan.
