KARACHI (Web Desk) – The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) staged sit-in outside the police station in protest against inclusion of Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) section in the First Information Reports (FIRs) registered against seven accused in Karimabad area of Karachi, Dunya News reported on Saturday.

Seven suspects were arrested for allegedly attacking Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) election camp on Friday night.

Relatives of the accused, MQM lawmakers and party’s candidate for NA-246 by-election Kanwar Naveed Jamil staged sit-in against the arrests.

Talking to media, Kanwar Naveed said that MQM workers got agitated after police baton-charge. Karimabad incident occurred to incompetence and weak strategy of police.

He said that arrested suspects do not belong to the MQM but they are local residents.
