Court sends KP Additional Home Secretary on 14-day remand in Rs60 million scam

PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - Peshawar Accountability Court on Friday has remanded Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s (KPK’s) Additional Secretary Arshad Khan in NAB custody for 10 days on the charges of corruption, Dunya News reported.

According to details, the additional secretary along with Assistant Director Irfanullah, two former officials of FDMA and three bank officers were arrested by the NAB officials and presented before the court.

The suspects were arrested in a case of embezzlement of compensation funds designated for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).

NAB claimed that Arshad Khan, while serving as Director General (DG) of FATA Disaster Management Authority (FDMA), is allegedly involved in misappropriation of the foreign aid provided for constructing homes of the affectees of Mohmand Agency.

During the course of inquiry it was revealed that the officials of FDMA created fake survey forms without taking the political administration into confidence whereas 162 fake bank accounts in the name of so called affectees were also opened in which money was transferred for building homes.

The NAB accused Arshad Khan of conducting a fraud and pocketing millions of rupees of compensation amount. Total loss is approximately at Rs60 million.
