SHC fines Imran Khan Rs50,000 over MQM defamation suit

Summary Farooq Sattar filed a defamation case against Khan on levelling accusations against MQM Chief.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Sindh High Court (SHC) has fined Rs50,000 to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan for not appearing before the court for the hearing regarding the compensation case filed by Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Dunya News reported.

According to details, the hearing held in SHC was presided over by Justice Shafi Sidiqqui.

Imran Khan’s lawyer Musharraf Azhar presented himself in the court on behalf of the PTI Chief whereas the judge fined Khan on not appearing before the court and submitting a written reply of the compensation claim made by MQM.

Advocate Musharraf Azhar apologized the court on not submitting a written reply upon which the court restored the right of Khan to submit his statements in the next hearing.

The judge remarked that the reply should be submitted before the upcoming proceeding.

Earlier, MQM leader Farooq Sattar filed a defamation case against Imran Khan on using absurd language and levelling baseless accusations regarding killing of PTI leader Zehra Shahid Husain against the MQM Chief Altaf Hussain.
