New Multan airport to be inaugurated today

MULTAN (Web Desk) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will inaugurate the new terminal of Multan International Airport on Monday, Dunya News reported.

The project has been completed within three years at a cost of Rs9 billion to provide modern facilities to the passengers.


Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Aviation Shujaat Azeem conducted final inspection of new Multan airport.


The project was initiated to expand the existing airport so that wide-bodied aircraft including Boeing 747 and Boeing 777 could land and take off for direct international passengers and cargo flights.

Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Aviation Shujaat Azeem posted a message on his Twitter account: 

International cargo flights from Multan will boost the exports of fruits, particularly mango, the Radio Pakistan reported.

A cargo complex has also been built having storage capacity of 10,000 tons and preservation of perishable vegetables and fruits.



Civil Aviation Authority officials say a number of international airlines have applied for operating direct flights to and from Multan.
