Summary
Foreign office spokesman Abdul Basit said on Thursday that Pakistan is not under any external pressure to launch an operation in North Waziristan. During the weekly briefing at the Foreign Office, Basit said the government and the army will decide on the operation in Waziristan. Talking about Indo-Pak relations, Basit said their trust deficit can only be reduced through dialogue. He added that the Baghlihar dam issue will be taken up in the meeting between the foreign ministers of the two countries in July. He further said that there were differences between Islamabad and Washington over the drone attacks. Basit rejected a US newspaper report about land attacks by the US inside Pakistan, and termed it baseless. An inquiry commission had been formed by United Nations Human Rights council on Pakistans request about Israeli aggression on the Freedom Flotilla. The commission will start its investigation soon, Basit stated.
