Summary The PPP leader asked Chief Election Commissioner to take notice of the ordinance.

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Criticising the government for issuing the presidential ordinance, Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khurshid Shah on Thursday stated that the ruling PML-N government has created a new history in ‘horse trading’ by introducing this ordinance at the eleventh hour, Dunya News reported.

Talking to media in Islamabad, Khurshid Shah said the government issued this ordinance because it will only serve their interest.

He urged the Chief Election Commissioner to take notice and declare this ordinance illegal.

“Rules cannot be altered once election schedule is issued”, he added.

Earlier on Friday, President Mamnoon Hussain signed a new ordinance to replace the presidential ordinance on FATA regulations issued in 2002, altering the rules for Senate elections.

The ordinance restricts MNAs from Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) to just one vote instead of four votes.
