Lahore: Negotiations between blind people, Punjab govt fail

Blind people stage protest outside Punjab assembly demanding to increase their quota in jobs.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Negotiation between the blind people and Punjab Government regarding job quota failed today (Monday) after they staged protest outside Punjab Assembly, Dunya News reported.
According to sources, blind people conducted a protest rally from Lahore Press Club to Punjab Assembly. The protesters were holding placards and banners and tried to enter Punjab Assembly but were hampered by the police.
The protesters said that Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Shahbaz Sharif promised to increase the job quota, making ad hoc employees permanent and providing jobs to jobless people.
While talking to media, representative of visually impaired individuals said that they came to Punjab Assembly three months ago to demand their due share in the jobs. We have no other demand, he added.
He said that if the implementation is done on the two percent job quota then no blind will remain jobless however, if the government failed to meet our demands then the protesters will stage a hunger strike outside the Assembly.
On the other hand, spokesman of Punjab Government Zaeem Qadri told that Punjab government has increased the quota of blind people in government jobs from two to three percent but if it is increased more, then it will be unjust to others.
He said that the visually impaired will be provided jobs in the areas where the seat is vacant however; it is currently not possible to provide them jobs in their district as it will discourage other people.
