OGRA chairman sent on 3-month forced leave

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) chairman Saeed Ahmed on Wednesday has been sent on a three-month forced leave. The government has taken this action in wake of the recent petroleum crisis in the country.
Earlier, the committee formed to probe the matter had declared Ahmed responsible for the countrywide petroleum crisis. According to the sources, Ahmed was not willing to go on a leave. The official notification has been issued after Prime Minister (PM) gave approval for the action.
The two-member committee had urged the PM to punish the people responsible for the petrol crisis.
According to the sources, Ahmed has said that he is not responsible for the petrol shortage in the country. He said that he would defend himself on whichever platform he has to. Moreover, Ahmed plans to challenge the reference against him in court.
