PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – January 16 completes a month of the terrible terrorist attack on the Army Public School (APS) by banned outfit Tehrik-i-Taliban (TTP). At least 134 students embraced martyrdom along with at least 17 faculty members.

The Pakistan Army had cleared the school of at least seven insurgents after a six-hour long operation. Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif reached the attack site and monitored the situation himself. Moreover, he called an emergency meeting the next day in which a committee was formed to propose a National Action Plan to counter terrorism within seven days. In that All Parties Conference (APC) all the political parties of the country resolved to get united for a common cause.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan later announced to end his sit-in protest against the alleged rigging in the General Elections 2013 in wake of the brutal attack in Peshawar. He expressed a resolve to stand by the government in this tough time.

Furthermore, the National Assembly and the Senate approved the 21st Amendment in the Constitution and the Amendment in the Army Act 1952 to establish military courts all over the country for speedy trials of the terrorism-related cases.

On January 12, the schools were opened in the entire province. The APS was opened for the students under tight security. The students studying in the APS vowed to get education no matter what the circumstances may be.
