Lahore: TTP commander, 2 accomplices killed after joint action by police, security agencies

Asadullah was mastermind of Wagah Border attack and was possibly planning another terrorist attack.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Taliban Lahore commander and presumed mastermind of Wagah Border attack Asadullah who goes with the aliases Roohullah and Qureshi was killed in Lahore along with two accomplices in a joint encounter by police and security agencies on early Saturday, Dunya News reported.

Law enforcement agencies traced a call and did an operation on Barki Road. The security officials stopped as many as three motorcyclists upon which they opened fire. The police reciprocated the fire killing as many as two terrorists named Umer Farooq and Miraj Shahid. Earlier, Shahid had absconded after throwing suicide vest in the Wagah Border attack. The police tried to catch Tehrik-i-Taliban (TTP) commander Roohullah upon which he killed himself by triggering a suicide bomb.

According to the sources, all three terrorists belonged to Bajaur Agency. TTP commander Roohullah had been found to be involved in cases of extortion and attacks on security forces and Bajaur Peace Committee. He had shifted to Lahore at least two weeks ago and was in contact with Maulvi Fazlullah.

Roohullah had rented different places in Lahore for his stay. According to the sources, as many as three accomplices of the killed terrorists are present in Lahore and are trying to reach Afghanistan as soon as possible.

However, the security forces are conducting different search operations to catch them.
