ISLAMABAD (Dunya News)—Supreme Court on Tuesday summoned Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi to appear before the court in the next hearing on government’s appeal against his bail in the Mumbai attack case.
Justice S Khwaja said a notice has been issued to Lakhvi on government’s appeal against the bail, adding that government has the authority to detain those who pose threat to the law and order situation.
Two member bench headed by Justice Jawad S Khawaja and Justice Qazi Faiz Essa heard the case against Lakhvi’s bail.
Attorney General Salman Butt said Lakhvi was again detained under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) after Anti Terrorism Court ordered his release. Lakhvi is associated with the banned organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LET) and releasing him in bail could put the country at risk of terror strikes.

Lakhvi bail appeal was submitted in the judicial magistrate’s court in Islamabad. Justice Khawaja sought details regarding the proceedings in the bail appeal case. Justice Khawaja ordered to halt the proceeding of Lakhvi’s bail appeal case and adjourned the hearing till tomorrow.

He was again detained under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO).
