LHC maintains acquittals of Kamra Complex, GHQ, Hamza Camp attacks accused

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Lahore High Court’s Rawalpindi Bench on Friday decided to maintain the acquittals of those accused in Kamra Complex, GHQ and Hamza Camp attacks after rejecting federal government’s appeals against the acquittals, Dunya News reported.

The division bench comprising Justice Abdul Rehman Lodhi and Justice Qazi Muhammad Amin heard the appeals filed the by federation against the acquittal of the accused.

The federation had submitted in the appeal that the trial courts had acquitted the suspects after not giving due weight to the testimonies against the accused. Therefore, the appeal said, the verdicts of the trial courts be set aside and the order of retrial be issued.

The lawyers of the accused maintained that the trial courts heard the cases for 1.5 years and acquitted Syed Arab and Shafiqur Rehman on the basis of lack of evidence. The honourable court rejected federation’s appeal after hearing the arguments from the both sides and maintained the acquittals.
