Summary Punjab government orders schools to finalize their security arrangements by January 9.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Registration of at least eight schools in Karachi was suspended on Friday.

Director Schools Karachi suspended the registration of schools in Malir, Lyari, Gulshan-e-Haider and Shah Faisal for continuing classes despite orders of winter vacations.

Minister Education Sindh had extended winter vacations by 10 days; schools in Karachi are therefore to reopen on January 12.

Punjab government, on the other hand, had extended the winter vacations till January 12. IDO sealed a private school for violating the vacation notice while the students were still inside the school.

Minister Education Punjab Rana Mashood has ordered the schools to finalize their security arrangements by January 9 and warned the schools would not be permitted to open in case of inadequate security measures whereas police will also be patrolling the areas.

He further told that funds worth 30.7 million were issued for the expenses bore by the schools to ensure security.
