The Chief Secretary Punjab has announced power conservation initiatives with immediate effect. It was announced that government offices will not be allowed to switch on air conditioners before 11:00 am and 50 per cent of lights will remain switched off at all times.A meeting was chaired by Chief Secretary Nasir Khosa who also announced that only one out of every three street lights will be switched on and then switched off by early morning. The DCO Lahore and IG Punjab were also present during the meeting.It was stated that restaurants would be given instructions to not switch on unnecessary lights and no lights were to be used to decorate trees, and gas stations. Along with the other initiatives, there would also be a complete ban on billboards and neon signs that used electricity. The Lahore administration has also requested the business community to open their markets from 5pm to 9pm to save the electricity. The administration called upon the business community to support the government in its bid to save the electricity.
