ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday directed Secretary Water & Power to appear in the next hearing in the case pertaining to electricity overbilling.
IHC s Justice Atharminallah heard opposition party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) petition against electricity overbilling.
During case proceedings, representatives of all the power distribution companies appeared in court.
Meanwhile, Joint Secretary of Ministry of Water & Power was fined Rs20,000 for not submitting reply in time. The court stated that the Joint Secretary failed to submit report despite expiry of the deadline.
On the other hand, PTI lawyer Advocate Qaisar Abbas prayed to court that the government should be barred from collecting additional charges on electricity bills. He requested the court to form a judicial commission as well to probe the matter.
The court has directed Secretary Water & Power to appear in the next hearing on December 15.
