Operation Zarb-e-Azb: 30 militants killed in fresh airstrikes in Dattakhel
Local and foreign militants were among the 30 terrorists killed in the strikes.
ISLAMABAD (AP) - Pakistan Air Force (PAF) jets have pounded militant hideouts in a northwestern tribal region bordering Afghanistan, killing at least 30 terrorists.
The military says the airstrikes were launched on Friday against the hideouts in the village of Datta Khel in North Waziristan.
It says local and foreign militants were among the 30 "terrorists" killed in the strikes.
The North Waziristan tribal area has been the scene of a major military operation since mid-June.
The Pakistani army says it has killed over 1,100 militants in North Waziristan since launching the operation, which also displaced over 800,000 residents.
The military says it has cleared 80 percent of the region and that it wants to ensure a safe return of the displaced people to their homes.
