UAE Polio Campaign vaccinates 13m children of FATA, KPK

Summary The UAE ambassador has announced a year extension in the campaign

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Emirates Polio Campaign, a humanitarian initiative started with collaboration of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with the Pakistan Army has provided polio vaccine to more than 13million children in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) in the last four months.

The UAE ambassador, after the success of this initiative, has announced a year extension in the campaign.

Addressing participants of a training course, the ambassador expressed a resolve to protect Pakistani children from this crippling virus. It was also told on the occasion that operations of the campaign were being extended to all districts of the KPK and the Frontier Regions (FR).

The aid is being used to purchase the vaccine, volunteers’ allowance; security and on awareness campaign. The participants were also told that the number of polio cases have also decreased in 25 regions of FATA and KPK where the campaign is operating.
