Multan jail incident: 7 officers, ASP suspended
The security has been tightened after Ghulam Muhammad's suicide attempt, says jail administration
MULTAN (Dunya News) – The inquiry committee formed to probe the matter of a prisoner’s suicide attempt in the District Jail, headed by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Malik Mubashir, after completing its investigation has suspended seven police officers including District Jail incharge of barracks and Assistant Superintendent (ASP) Jail.
The DIG recorded prisoner Ghulam Muhammad, staff of the jail and other prisoners’ statements.
After this incident, stairs that lead to water tanks and rooftops in jails including, Women Jail, Central Jail and District Jail have been demolished.
According to the jail administration, the security has been tightened after the prisoner’s suicide attempt.
Moreover, two separate cases have been registered against prisoner awaiting capital punishment, Ghulam Muhammad.
