Summary Govt had earlier decided to add 30 paisa per unit surcharge, PM directed to keep tariff unchanged
ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – On the advice of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, government has decided to keep the power tariffs unchanged. Government had earlier decided to add a surcharge of 30 paisa per unit.
According to the government spokesperson, power tariff will remain unchanged. Earlier the government had decided to introduce equalization surcharge according to which consumers would have had to pay 30 paisa extra for every unit consumed. Ministry of Water and Power had issued the notification as well. EQ surcharge had been imposed because of delayed payments.
