KP lawyers term Imran's call for civil disobedience unconstitutional
Lawyers have strongly Imran Khan's decision to launch civil disobedience.
PESHAWAR (Web Desk) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan’s call for ‘civil disobedience’ has sparked a new debate across the country.
Lawyers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province have termed the move as illegal and unconstitutional.
The legal fraternity was of the view that not only Imran Khan or Tahirul Qadri but the government and other opposition parties are also responsible for prevailing crisis in the country.
Political parties are working for personal gains instead of stabilising the democracy, lawyers said.
Legal fraternity will stand united for stability of the democracy, thus, they strongly oppose any undemocratic and unconstitutional step.
Imran Khan, who heads parliament s third largest political bloc, on Sunday called on Pakistanis to refuse to pay taxes and utility bills since "the corrupt government was stealing the people s money", and told his supporters that their protests should be non-violent.
Khan demanded Sharif resign within 48 hours or face protests in the capital s high security "Red Zone" of government buildings and embassies.
He claims the government came to power fraudulently in last May’s general election.
