Summary Govt should not prohibit any party from its constitutional right to protest, he said.
LONDON (Dunya News) – Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain said that the ‘marches’ should remain peaceful while on the other hand, the government should not deprive them of constitutionally safeguarded civil liberties, which include the right to protest.
In a press statement, Hussain appealed to the government for letting the ‘marches’ proceed in a peaceful manner, while it should eliminate the impediments on the way. He added that the government has sealed several routes of Lahore, Rawalpindi and Islamabad, which have become a huge nuisance for the general population.
MQM chief stated that it is every political party’s constitutional and democratic right to protest if its demands are not met, and no one can be deprived of this fundamental right.
MQM chief appealed to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) by emphasizing that they should keep their marches peaceful.
