KARACHI (Dunya News) - The Pakistan Railways (PR) has refused to provide a special train to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) for its upcoming long march in Islamabad.

According to sources, the decision was taken due to security threats and other railway issues.

The PTI had submitted an application to the DS Railway (Karachi) to run a special train for its workers who would like to participate in the long march scheduled on August 14. The application was forwarded to the railway headquarters (Lahore) where a high-level meeting decided to reject PTI’s request.

The party requested to reserve 14 bogies that will take the participants from Karachi to Rawalpindi.

On the other hand, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan contacted Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan on telephone and urged him to call off his 14 August ‘Azadi march’ on Monday.

However, Imran refused Ch Nisar proposal and said that 14 August ‘Azadi march’ would not be called off at any cost.

The meeting was presided over by the Prime Minister and attended by senior party leaders including Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique, Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Hamza Shahbaz Sharif and others.
