ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) termed Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Imran Khan’s criticism of election process as unconstitutional. According to the ECP , the criticism of election process violates Article 225 of the constitution of Pakistan.
According to Article 225: ‘No election to a House or a Provincial Assembly shall be called in question except by an election petition presented to such tribunal and in such manner as may be determined by Act of [Majlis-e-Shoora (Parliament)].”
ECP told Dunya News that Article 225 states that all the issues regarding the election process can only be raised through an election petition. However, Imran Khan is denouncing the election process without following any legal procedure. ECP termed Imran Khan’s criticism as unconstitutional, adding that by- elections would be conducted in the event of resignation by PTI assembly members.
