LAHORE (Dunya News) – Opposition parties on Wednesday began deliberations for a possible grand alliance against the government. Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT)’s Dr Tahirul Qadri, Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PMLQ)’s Chaudhry brothers and Pakistan People’s Party’s delegates met and discussed the possibilities. Shujaat Hussain suggested the opposition can unite on a single point instead of 10, Dunya News reported.
The leadership of various political and local parties met Dr Qadri at Model Town Lahore. The leaders exchanged views and discussed possibilities including the possible formation of a grand alliance against the government.
Addressing the media, Shujaat Hussain said that if an ally unites even on a single point instead of Qadri’s 10-point agenda, the alliance would welcome them.
Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi alleged that it was the police that ordered to open fire at PAT demonstrators last week. He said the same officers will testify against the government if they weren’t a part of it.
Sheikh Rasheed said that all opposition parties should unite over one agenda, adding that PTI should also support the alliance. He said the nation is demanding resignation from Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif.
He said that five ministers will drown the government led by PMLN.
PPP South Punjab’s president Makhdoom Shahab-ud-Din and chief of Hazara Province Movement Baba Haider Zaman also participated in the meeting along with their respective delegates.
