Adiala Jail's security assigned to army, 30 commandos deployed

The Adiala Jail also has prisoners belonging to the banned terrorist outfits.

RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – As many as 30 commandoes were deployed to guard Adiala Jail on Sunday after its security was handed over to the Pakistan Army amid the security threat, Dunya News reported.
The 30 commandos deployed are instructed to aid the police and rangers personnel on security duty. The commandos are performing joint-duty along with 50 rangers.
Superintendent Jail Malik Mushtaq told Dunya News that the commandos are deployed amid the terror threat. The commandos will also patrol around the jail. He said that the security situation is also being monitored with the help of closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras.
Mushtaq said that the army will aid the police and rangers for jail’s external security.
The Adiala Jail also has prisoners belonging to the banned terrorist outfits.
It is pertinent to mention here that the federal government had assigned federal capital Islamabad’s security to the army on Saturday. As many as 250 army men are to be deployed on sensitive and most important areas of the city.
The army men will also patrol Margalla hills. Sources said that the security is being handed over to the army to thwart the possible backlash of military operation targeting militants in Waziristan.
Following the breaking and entering of Sikh protestors into the parliament house, the interior minister had expressed dissatisfaction over the police security.
