Modi accepts invitation to visit Pakistan

Nawaz Sharif said that the legacy of mistrust between both nations must end.

NEW DELHI (Dunya News) – India’s recently sworn-in Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Tuesday, accepted Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s invitation to visit Pakistan. Both countries agreed to continue holding talks on foreign secretary level, and to advance mutual cooperation in various sectors including trade, Dunya News reported.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif today (Tuesday) said that foreign secretaries of Pakistan and India would meet soon to carry forward bilateral agenda.
He was addressing a press conference after meeting with Indian counterpart Narendra Modi in New Delhi.
The Prime Minister remarked that he held a constructive meeting with Modi, stressing that it was important for both sides to work together for peace and stability.
“Meeting with Narendra Modi was in a very friendly and cordial atmosphere,” PM Nawaz said. “We can succeed in turning a new page in our relationship.”
PM Nawaz said he told the newly-elected Indian premier that he wanted to pick up the threads from ‘Lahore Declaration.’
“My government stands ready to discuss all issues. We owe it to our people to overcome the legacy of mistrust” he added.
Nawaz Sharif said the goals of Pakistan and India are same and both nations should work together for peace and stability in the region.
He further stated that accusations and counter accusations will not be productive for both nations.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif also said that he has invited Narendra Modi to visit Pakistan.
