KARACHI (Dunya News) – Pakistan’s national oil company Pakistan State Oil (PSO) on Tuesday ran out of jet fuel rendering itself unable to supply fuel to any domestic or international flight, Dunya News reported.
Following the development, PSO has suspended supplying the fuel to all airliners at Karachi airport. According to reports, PSO is trying to arrange fuel for the international flights on emergency basis.
According to sources, several national institutions including PIA are defaulters of 180 billion rupees.
The shortage was a result of stoppage of fuel supply to PSO by national oil refineries because of the debt.
Reportedly, PSO owes 18 billion rupees to local refineries and 80 billion to foreign companies.
PSO has demanded national flag carrier Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) to make the due payment of 7 billion rupees.
